Plaque #H20 Heritage Home

Built in 1876: Original home of William Lemon

Occupation:  Lumber Merchant

Brief History:

When William Lemon came to Harriston, he manufactured water pumps.  As time progressed, he purchased various vacant lots on speculation and turned a tidy profit.  He then started a lumber business and built homes in town.  This dwelling was constructed in 1876 and the lot seemed high enough in those days to overlook half of Harriston.  Mr. Lemon was elected on Council and considered a notary public by our standards and highly thought of in the community.
