116 Arthur St E., Harriston

The Meiklejohn House was built in the 1870's as a stately Victorian home by Alexander Meiklejohn who became the first mayor of Harriston.  It has many unique features including a wall which recesses into the ceiling to make the parlour into one large room and eight fireplaces, four of which are made of Italian marble.

A former greenhouse or Conservatory is now a warm and cozy place to relax and enjoy a cup of tea or to have your breakfast.  A second floor sun room also lends itself to relaxation.  Several outdoor verandahs invite you to sit with a good book or spend time with friends.  The 8 person spa/hot tub will help you settle in for a good nights sleep in one of the four bedrooms decorated for your comfort.

A delicious full country breakfast will be served at 8:30 am or earlier upon request and it can be enjoyed in the formal dining room, Conservatory or out on the patio.

The comfort of central air during the hot summer months and the cozy fireplaces in the chilly fall or winter will add to the ambiance of the Meiklejohn House.

We are situated on the edge of the town of Harriston in the Town of Minto, Wellington County, Ontario, and are within a short drive to many area attractions and activities.
